Is anyone having issues plotting Petra maps to an HP plotter under Windows 7?  I can print a a test page and a MS Word doc, but no Petra output yet.

We have a designjet 510 and haven't had any problems with it yet. 32bit or 64bit?

It is a 32-bit machine.  I had no problems plotting on my old Dell running XP.  Currently, I can print a MS Word Doc, a PowerPoint slide, a Windows test page but no Petra docs.  When I send a Petra doc to the plotter, I can see in the HP plotter LCD display the name of the Petra file attempting to print.  I see for about 10 seconds and then the file name disappears with no plot.

The only thing I can think of is making sure avoid out of memory is checked. I know it's called that on XP, but I believe in Windows 7 it is called Send Job as a Bitmap. When you go to print click on Properties,  go to the Services tab, then click on the icon to the left of Troubleshoot Software Problems. I know the memory on the older Designjets is extremely limited. We recently purchased a T1200 and haven't had any problems with it.

How are you printing from within PETRA? For example, from the Map Module, are you going to File->Print; or printing from the Print Preview. The reason I ask, is that I'm testing an HP T1100 on Win 7x64 and it works fine with the File->Print method, but nothing happens when going through the Print Preview dialog. Am trying to track it down, curious if you see the same behavior or if it could be a different issue. Thanks!

James,

Genius....I was using the Print Preview option with no luck.  I tried your trick and went directly to Print.... and I now have a good map.  Thanks for the tip.

Windows 7 dropped support for my old HP Designjet 755CM, slow, but still worked fine.  My company (not I) got a $1,000 trade-in rebate on a T-770 which cost half as much as the antique 755 and runs 10 times faster.

Designed obselescence - is it taught in engineering school or marketing school these days?

FWIW, we never have been able to print using file>print preview>print

we started with a hp 500 and now have a T1100.

my 2 cents
